Despite growing awareness of mental health issues, access to and availability of evidence-based psychological treatments remain a challange, particularly in regions like Windsor-Essex where service demand outstrips available services. Vulnerable populations, especially those with low-to-moderate mental health symptoms, often face barriers to receiving timely and effective care. Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) is a well-established intervention, but its accessibility is often limited to those with severe symptoms, leaving individuals with low-to-moderate needs underserved. Internet-delivered DBT (iDBT) has emerged as a promising approach, offering accessible and scalable treatment options for various mental health conditions. To address this gap, a pilot will be developed for a free, low-barrier, self-guided iDBT intervention tailored to the Windsor-Essex community. Ultimately, the goal is to integrate the iDBT program into exisitng mental health services enhancing early intervention and preventative care in the region.
The development of iDBT will provide patients in the Windsor-Essex region wil a low-barrier, accessible mental health intervention, potentially improving their acecss to evidence-based care. This intervention aims to enhance patients' mental health well-being by offering a scalable, self-guided treament that addresses a range of symptoms and promotes early intervention.
