On Saturday, November 17, 2018, the Windsor Cancer Research Group (WCRG) hosted its 4th Biennial International Cancer Research Conference at Caesars Windsor. The conference was attended by over 150 scientists, clinicians, nurses, research associates, researchers, administrators, and students who came together from across Ontario and Michigan to share their latest research findings.
The conference began with Susan Ravija, a cancer survivor, sharing her personal story and the impact of research in her life followed by the featured keynote speaker, Dr. Jacqueline Jeruss from the University of Michigan. The conference also included 17 oral and 9 rapid-fire presentations, 57 poster presentations, 12 sponsors, and 6 research ambassadors. The organization and execution of the conference was made possible by an amazing group of students from the third year Cancer Undergraduate Research Education class who contributed greatly to its success. With the generous support of the University of Windsor’s Alumni Association, three top poster awards were given to Marisa Market (Ottawa Hospital Research Institute), Katharine McLaughlin, and Amanda Stojcevski (Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry), and Adam Pillon (University of Windsor). New this year was a People’s Choice award going to Veronica Dubois (Western University). For more information pertaining to our conferences, please visit our conference page!
