The objective of this research is to understand the factors that facilitate organizational and employee health, engagement, and thriving (i.e., resilience) in response to COVID-19. The pandemic has had a particularly catastrophic impact on small businesses (leaders and employees). We have identified a gap in knowledge with respect to understanding how to re-engage employees as the pandemic restrictions are gradually lifted. The study team proposes to research this issue by conducting a matched survey-study with local businesses and their employees. They will collaborate with the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (WERCC) and other community partners to collect the data. Insights from this research will be used to develop a white-paper and webinar/workshops that will be disseminated to the WERCC and broader community on how to effectively prepare and respond to unexpected crises in the future to sustain organizational, team, and employee resilience.
