Globally, sexual and gender minorities, including 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, encounter significant barriers such as discrimination and harrassment in recreational sports leagues, resulting in lower participation rates and unmet physical activity guidelines compared to their cisgender/heterosexual counterparts. Despite the well-documentd benefits of recreational sports, these barriers often discourage 2SLGBTQ+ individuals from participating, underscoring the need for more inclusive community spaces. This project will explore the experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in recreational sports leagues to inform strategies for enhancing inclusivity and reducing barriers in these environments.

The insights gained from exploring the experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in recreational sports leagues are expected to inform strategies for enhancing inclusivity and reducing barriers in these environments. By developing actionable recommendations and disseminating findings through infographics and videos, this project aims to foster more supportive and welcoming recreational sports for sexual and gender minorities.
