Dr. Amy Peirone is a full-time Professor at St. Clair College in the Community Studies Department, where she teaches in the Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts in Social Justice and Legal Studies program. She is an active researcher, involved in numerous projects, with expertise spanning a multitude of social issues from violance against women, femicide and the barriers to effective uptake of the Domestic Violence Death Review Committee Inquest Recommendations, the intersection of aging, well-being, and pet ownership, and housing insecurity, to the relationship between age and crime, and the current landscape on crisis lines.
She completed her Bachelors of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Windsor, followed by a Master's of Criminology at the University of Ottawa and a Master's of Social Data Analysis at the University of Windsor. She completed her PhD in Sociology/Social Justice at the University of Windsor, with her dissertation focusing on Intimate Partner Violence in sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Peirone is also the Co-Director for the University of Windsor's Health Research Centre for the Study of Violence Against Women, and is the Coordinator for the Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee in Windsor-Essex.
