Suzanne McMurphy, the Research Ethics Board Chair, is leading a series of 10 workshops. These workshops cover various aspects of research ethics, focusing primarily on the Canadian Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans - TCPS 2 (2022) guidelines. The main goals include enhancing research ethics education and facilitating better communication between researchers and the board during ethics review. Each session will be 1-hour, and individual questions on research projects and REB applications are welcome.

The following sessions will be offered in-person on Thursday's from 4-5pm in room 254, Dillon Hall

  • Session 1 - Conducting Research on Your Courses (January 23)
  • Session 2 - Integrating Ethics Principles into Project Designs (January 30)
  • Session 3 - Writing Rationales and Protocol Descriptions (February 6)
  • Session 4 - Recruitment Pathways and Strategies (February 13)
  • Session 5 - Risks, Mitigation Strategies and Benefits (February 27)
  • Session 6 - Consent Processes, Content, and Consent Modifications (March 6)
  • Session 7 - Privacy and Confidentiality, On-line Data Collection, and Social Media (March 13)
  • Session 8 - Data Management, Data Sharing, and Secondary Use (March 20)
  • Session 9 - Indigenous Research, Community-Based Research, Population Considerations (March 27)
  • Session 10 - Conducting Research with Local Hospitals and Biological Materials (April 3)
